To adequately compete with other areas of the world for petroleum production, it is crucial to look for oil and gas in places that have rarely or never been explored in the United States. This has required us, as an industry, to re-evaluate current practices and has led WTW to search for hydrocarbons below igneous rock formations. New geological concepts developed by our Company have captured the interest of some very respected scientists, researchers, publishers and state geological associations, departments and agencies.
But only the drilling of Wild-Cat Wells will determine the validity of new theories. If the United States is to increase its capacity of petroleum production, then exploration must be accompanied by better science and a willingness to take new kinds of risk. After several years of research and analysis, W.T.W. Operating LLC, drilled the Wilson Well, in the State of Kansas to empirically test the likelihood of petroleum being found below igneous rock. That Wild-Cat well was ultimately plugged and abandoned, however; the information derived from the well was extremely encouraging and has resulted in an even greater resolve within the ranks of the Company.
